What if I wanted to break, laugh it all off in your face? What would you do? (Basic Info)

Full Name: 風間 仁 (Kazama Jin)
Age: 21
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 165 lbs.
Blood Type: AB
Basic Appearance: Jin Kazama is a Japanese male with black hair that is spiked upwards, in a style similar to the hairstyle of his father, Kazuya Mishima. In fact, in early screen showings of Tekken 3, many fans assumed the unnamed character of Jin Kazama to be Kazuya Mishima in his early teen years, due to their similarities. This, however, was not proven to be the case. Jin's hairstyle appears to be a mixture of Kazuya's hairstyle and Jun Kazama's bangs (fringes). Jin also has a black mark on one of his arms, which Devil has branded onto him.

He has worn a great deal of outfits in the course of the Tekken series. Many of these outfits feature flames on them, and, with the exception of a single outfit in Tekken 6, he always wears either gloves or gauntlets.
What if I fell to the floor, couldn't take all this anymore... What would you do? (Personality/History)
Personality: Jin's actions and surroundings fit the mold of a quintessential "tragic hero," except for his lack of a tragic flaw. As with many tragedies, all of the major traumatic events that occur within the hero's life are wholly beyond his control. First and foremost, there's the fact that his grandfather and father are two of the most ruthless individuals who've ever lived. Secondly, his mother was cruelly and abruptly taken from him while he was still a helpless teen. Third, he was betrayed by his grandfather, whom he trusted deeply. Finally, the return of his great-grandfather, Jinpachi Mishima, has caused him to begin losing his internal struggle with the Devil within. Each of these occur to a helpless and unassuming Jin, who is simply doing what he can to set things right at every turn.

Jin's personality ranges from calm to angry at various moments, and his words and actions hint toward the bitterness within. He also has one personality trait which is common with many Japanese action heroes. Once Jin's mind is focused in any particular direction, it is very difficult to get him to change or even notice the events and people around him. People close to him, including Ling Xiaoyu and Hwoarang, are always going to extremes to gain Jin's attention, and yet, he rarely seems to notice. It is known, however, that he will help them if they need it, as Ling Xiaoyu's Tekken 4 profile and Hwoarang's Tekken 4 ending have shown.

Jin's disinterest in close relations probably has one unique motivation. As a result of his family's Devil Gene, Jin knows that people close to him will likely suffer--or worse--if he ever completely loses control. In addition, Jin may not show any interest in women because he plans to wipe out his lineage entirely. In short, during Tekken 4, Jin planned to kill his father and grandfather and then himself, dying without children to put an end to the Mishima curse once and for all. However, Jin could not go through with the deed after defeating his two predecessors, so it's unknown if he has given up on this plan completely since he saw the image of his mother Jun.

History: Jin Kazama is the son of Jun Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. In Tekken 5, it is revealed that Jin has a cousin, Asuka Kazama. However, they don't seem to be aware of their relationship. During The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 (which is the setting of the game Tekken 2), Kazuya and Jun crossed paths and were intimate. Jun found herself pregnant with Jin immediately afterwards. The Devil that possessed Kazuya attempted to enter Jin while he was still in his mother's womb, but Jun defeated it. Wishing to raise her son alone, Jun disappeared into a remote mountain location, where she raised Jin and trained him in her Kazama-style self-defense fighting style. After many years, Jun sensed the approaching of a great evil (Ogre) and told Jin that if anything happened to her, that he should seek his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima. Jun's words proved to be prophetic, and some time after Jin's 15th birthday, Jun was attacked by Ogre. Some time later, Jin awoke amongst rubble and searched for his mother, but he could not find her anywhere. Jin swore revenge.

After 4 years of training with Heihachi, Jin entered the King of Iron Fist Tourament 3 in order to hunt Ogre down and make him pay for what he had done to Jun Kazama all those years ago. Unfortunately, things didn't go exactly as planned after defeating Ogre. Just seconds after his victory, Jin is attacked by Heihachi's Tekken Force, and he receives multiple gunshot wounds. Slowly succumbing to death, Heihachi shoots Jin in the head, therefore killing his own grandson. However, when Heihachi turns his back and walks away, he sees the bodies of his Tekken Force before him, and turns around to see Jin morphed in his devil form, Devil Jin. Jin slams Heihachi through a stone wall. Then, Jin hurls him down into the ground violently. Finally, Jin spreads his wings and flies off into the night.

After this, Jin flees to Austrailia and begins to unlearn the Mishima style karate he had learned from Heihachi, rejecting everything that had anything to do with the Mishima family. After unlearning everything and relearning in the traditional style of karate, Jin hears word of a fourth King of Iron Fist tournament and joins immediately, knowing that both his father and grandfather would be there. He eventually gets captured again and is held captive at Hon-Maru, where Kazuya tries to provoke Jin in an attempt to force the Devil Gene out. He awakes and violently attacks Kazuya and defeats him; knocking him unconscious. Heihachi then stops Jin from leaving, challenging him to a fight in an attempt to take Jin's own Devil Gene for him. The two fight, and Jin proves that he's too much for Heihachi to handle. With Heihachi weakened, he then proceeds to carry out on his own mission (which was to destroy his evil bloodline by murdering his grandfather, his father, and then himself), but suddenly sees either a hallucination of his mother, Jun Kazama (or he sees her soul. It's not clear on either one). Because of this, Jin drops his grandfather and says "Thank my mother, Jun Kazama" before once again flying off in the night.

Shortly after, Jin awoke in a forest which had looked like it was devastated by a tornado. However, he knew instinctively that it was he that had done the damage. He returned home to Yakushima, knowing that he had to stop his Devil Gene once and for all before it took him over completely.
What if I wanted to fight? Beg for the rest of my life... What would you do? (Devil Jin)

Though Jin's Devil self made it's official debut in Tekken 5, he first appeared in Tekken 3. After defeating True Ogre (Ogre in his true form) in the final round of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Jin was suddenly attacked by Heihachi's Tekken Force and was shot multiple times. Jin slowly succumbed to death, yet as he tried to call for help, his grandfather shot him in the head with his pistol, thus effectively killing Jin. However, when Heihachi turned his back and walked away, he saw the bodies of his Tekken force before him, and quickly turned around to see Jin in his Devil form. Angered by betrayal, Devil Jin grabbed Heihachi and slammed him through a stone wall and violently hurled him into the ground before flying off into the night.

It would be two years since the events of the third tournament, and Heihachi had not seen or heard from his grandson ever since. He couldn't even track him down. Jin was actually in Brisbane, Australia. Jin was living a new life there, and training under the guidance of a dojo master in the traditional art of Karate. During this time, the results of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 came in, claiming Jin as the official champion; but Jin did not wish to be identified as the champion, hence why he wore his hooded jacket. While Jin was undoing what he learned from his grandfather, he trained intensively in the art of Traditional Karate. He was able to suppress his Devil Gene also. For one, he didn't want to establish any close relationships with anyone other than the Dojo Grand master, for concern of their safety, should they figure out his dark secret, and he tried to control his anger (since the Devil Gene is usually triggered off with anger.). This wasn't an easy task, as the stinging memory of his grandfather's betrayal often enraged Jin, yet Jin worked hard at it. For two years straight, it seemed that Jin was able to supress his Devil Gene once and for all.

Or so it seemed...

After two years of silence, Jin entered The King Of Iron Fist Tournament 4 with the intention of destroying his evil bloodline by murdering his grandfather, his father (it is unknown how he knew his father was alive), and then himself. During the tournament, Jin was captured by Heihachi's Tekken Forces, and was held captive in Hon-Maru. In other events, Heihachi had defeated Kazuya in the tournament, and then lead him to Jin. When they arrive, after a brief conversation, Kazuya uses some of his supernatural power to knock Heihachi out of the room, where he watched what happened afterwards with great interest.

In Jin's dream, he was challenged by his father to "give in to the anger", in an attempt to unleash his Devil Gene (in which Kazuya wanted for himself.). Jin broke free and violently attacked his father, knocking him unconscious. Heihachi then challenged Jin to a fight himself, in which Jin angrily accepted. Jin then defeated Heihachi and proceeded to kill him, which then began to unleash his Devil Gene even further. However, a vision of his mother, Jun Kazama, prevented Jin from killing Heihachi, as well as Kazuya. Jin flies away once more.

Moments later, Hon-Maru was under attack by Jacks, and was ultimately destroyed by an explosion, which unleashed Jinpachi Mishima; whom was in his Devil form also. This would trigger Jin's own Devil Gene and became uncontrollable, leading to the destruction of a forest. The Devil Gene was in full effect and completely took over Jin, despite trying to battle it's influence.

Two months later, evil utterly consumed Jin's mind and Devil Jin was born. He set himself an evil task: Find and kill Jinpachi and absorb his power (it hasn't yet been revealed if Jinpachi is in possession of the Devil Gene).

And for the record, I took most of this from Jin and Devil Jin's Tekkenpedia articles.
